The VENIVA database comprises two different schemata according to the needs of archives and libraries as primary source repositories. Separate modalities for the database consultation have been devised in order to respect the different structure of the archival and bibliographic model. An innovative combined modality of consultation (library and archive) has also been planned.
The ISAD(G) and ISBD standards regulate the archive model and the library model as well as the entries of the archival and bibliographic objects' descriptive cards. The schema also contains entries for indexes (toponyms, names and subjects) and entries for the automatic generation of hypertextual links between the objects of the database following the MEM methodology.
