Archival-bibliographic documents (expecially cartography)
The cartographic collections to be inserted in the VENIVA virtual
archive include drawings, sketches and maps on Venice, Crete,
Cephalonia and other Greek territories. The maps relate to the
history of Venice in the period ranging from the middle ages to the
unification of Italy and explore the economic, political and cultural
relationships between Venice, Greece and Austria. They are
heterogeneous documents since they belong to different types of
cultural institutions with different standards of
description and cataloguing methodologies.
The publishing activities
VENIVA will help authors and
scholars with the circulation of their works through on-line
publishing. The outcoming editorial collection will
comprise critical and historical analyses - virtual
exhibitions, papers, dissertations - written by scholars about the
primary sources stored in the VENIVA virtual archive with special
attention to cartography.
